On September 8, 2017 training “Women - Leaders of Changes in Local Communities” took place for the representatives of Sumy and Poltava oblasts. By a common desire to improve the lives of local communities were united nearly 30 participants - representatives of 15 different administrative units.

This event has demonstrated the existence of significant potential and resources for the implementation of changes in the grassroots local communities of these regions, as well as the readiness of local self-government bodies to take significant part in this process as five village heads and about 15 deputies of local councils and representatives of executive committees of local councils attended the training. In addition to this, activists of regional NGOs (NGO “Women's Wings of Sumy Region", NGO "National Women's Platform “Women for Peace”, NGO "Center for Support and Development of the Family “Kalina Raceme” etc.) are already implementing projects on the protection of women's rights and assistance for victims of violence, which testifies the relevance of the issue for this territory and the necessity for its development and promotion.
